Tutorial by No Rest For The Wicked. The tutorial is a quick explanation of how the function works.
Print to PDF or Save as PDF is a function in most modern browsers, including the free browsers, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
It permits webpages to be saved as .pdf files in a quality that includes hyperlynks such as URLs. It is not necessary to install any additional software on your computer or extensions in your browser. Open a webpage and from there press Ctrl+P to open the Print dialog. Make sure that the destination printer is set to "Save to PDF", or "Save as PDF". Hit the "Print" button and the webpage will download as a PDF document to a destination of your choice.
PDF conversion is not perfect way to save a web page, but it can be useful if needed for sharing, or for use as attachments.
PDF conversion of web pages forces a paper format, often at the cost of the layout of the online page. Also, page shifts can disrupt some of the content, e.g. by cutting lines or images. It is advised to inspect the print preview and experiment with the print settings of paper direction and size, etc. if the preview does not look satisfactory. Ticking the box to include headers in settings in the Print menu will result in the original web address being included in the PDF document.
The function is probably already included in your preferred browser, or it may be found in one of the browsers below:
