Environmental Media and Aesthetics is a research program at Aarhus University. It focuses on contemporary environmental and climate issues with special attention paid to media and aesthetics alongside the various philosophical, historical, literary, and other humanities approaches that help to contextualise our contemporary condition. Our members come from different departments at the School of Communication and Culture, and we actively collaborate across disciplines including with several international institutions and projects. Our three core areas of inquiry are: 1) Environmental Media and Infrastructure, 2) Media Representations and Practices, 3) Environmental Aesthetics and Practices that includes work with artists, designers, and cultural institutions where we actively participate in curatorial work. At Aarhus University, our key partnership includes the Centre for Environmental Humanities and many other centres and groups.
