This year’s Cultural Transformations Summer Seminar enquires how the past is presenced, presented and represented to understand and shape the present and to move us towards an unpredictable future.
Artists, institutions, nation-states, communities, designers, and businesses strategically employ cultural heritage(s) and canons to create immersive performances, imagery, business models and policies that resist, negotiate, or reinforce the structural imprints of the cultural heritages on our bodies and minds.
Stimulated by cases from the performing arts and contemporary productions of Holberg’s classical plays, from visual iconography and memes, and from repopulation enterprises in Italian towns on the brink of extinction, we invite you to join into lively discussions in order to explore together modes and moods of embodiment to (re)move, (re)play and (re)posses our relationship with the past and heritage to move forward in a time of accelerated and unforeseen change and challenges.
With our Summer Seminar, we mark the hand-over to the new Research Programme Co-Directors as well as celebrate the publication of the books Kulturarvens kraft: En introduktion til kritiske kulturarvsstudier by Mads Daugbjerg, Britta Timm Knudsen and Casper Andersen (Samfundslitteratur 2025) and Dramaturgies of Immersion: Analysing Poetics of Immersion and Emersion, edited by Janek Szatkowski and Thomas Rosendal Nielsen (Routledge 2025).
Please deregister if your personal schedule changes after you have registered, in order to avoid food and drink waste and to ensure availability of participation spaces for everyone.
Registration deadline: Wednesday 28 May 2025.
