Abstract: Neuro-sama is a globally popular streamer with over 775k followers on YouTube, 885k on Twitch, and 825k on Chinese platform Bilibili.
Neuro-sama is also an artificial agent, created by British programmer Vedal and streamer/artist Anny. Artificial agents are
at the cutting edge of generative AI and content creation but pose
distinct content moderation challenges complicated by cross-platform streaming. Focusing on leading AI streamers, I investigate the co-production of content moderation for artificial agents
on social media, mapping the policies, actors, and issues involved. I show how creators of artificial agents take on the role of content moderators, programming anticipatory compliance and contributing to the automation of platform governance.

Bio: Dr. Blake Hallinan is an Assistant Professor of Platform Studies in the Department of Media and Journalism at Aarhus University and director of the ERC-funded project PAY4PLAY: Entrepreneurial Organizing in the Platform Society]. Drawing from media studies, information science, and economic sociology, they research how content creators and their publics come together, create value, and navigate platform power.

This event is supported by Centre for Critical Data Practices, Dept. of Digital Design and Information Studies, and CUPRA research program.
