Profile

My research examines Danish hymn literature as a cultural-historical testimony, combining interdisciplinary methods and quantitative analysis to understand its development and significance over time.

I research Danish hymn literature from the Reformation to the present day, viewing it as a cultural-historical testimony reflecting changing times, beliefs, and linguistic developments. My approach is interdisciplinary, combining literary, linguistic, and digital humanities methods, incorporating quantitative analyses to examine how hymn literature has evolved over time.

A central focus of my research is the "broad hymn literature" – all authorized collections – and how it aligns with existing scholarship, which has primarily focused on individual works, authorships, and periodic trends. I aim to provide a more nuanced understanding of hymn collections as a whole and their place in cultural history.
