I work with global contemporary art, primarily from the SWANA region. I am interested how artistic practices interact with pressing socio-political and cultural challenges such as authoritarianism, decolonialism and modern warfare. Furthermore, I work to curiously qualify and revitalize what humanistic research methods can and should do today. Finally, I have an active artistic practice as a performance poet.
I am currently interested in contextualizing the ongoing war in Gaza through a series of contemporary works - primarily film and video art - by Palestinian artists. I am also writing a chapter for an anthology on Literature and Sound based on my own performative poetry practice and I am also preoccupied with editorial work on the anthology Collective Art Research. I co-direct Centre for Research in Artistic Practices under Contemporary Conditions with Jacob Lund and Tobias Dias.
I have taught BA, MA, and PhD level students within the disciplinary fields of Aesthetics, Global Culture, Protest Movements, Cultural Dissemination, and Critical University Studies. Furthermore, I have 15 years of experience from teaching performance poetry and creative writing at cultural, artistic, and educational institutions. Through teaching, I am intuitively preoccupied with establishing a well-structured, participatory, and openhearted room for engagement.
