In 2009, a number of translation companies tested the IT tool, the EU Legal Acts Corpus. KCL worked closely with the users in order to further develop the corpus tool.

The EU Legal Acts Corpus is a web-based tool for legal translations between English and Danish. The EU Legal Acts Corpus allows you to search and re-use translations from the EU's joint set of rules, Acquis Communautaire, i.e.. laws, treaties, rulings, directives, declarations and international agreements etc.

New opportunities
The EU Legal Acts Corpus is an example of the Corpus tool used for legal texts. KCL is continually working to expand the uses of this tool to new relevant text genres. In addition to searching the EU Legal Acts Corpus, companies will also be able to establish their own corpora through which they may store, search and re-use their most frequently used texts.
