Under the heading MEDVID Learning, KCL has worked with course forms and ICT tools for knowledge sharing particularly targeted at supplementary training and continuing education. We took our starting point in the pharmaceutical industry and the health sector and their needs for more knowledge on professional and targeted technical communication.
Instead of a traditional educational form, we focused on the learning process as a cooperation project in which the participant's own competencies are put into play. In order to support this educational intention, we began the development of two ICT tools: Annotator which is an educational module for text production and translation and the Knowledge Bank which systematises knowledge on text genres' structure and linguistic design.
The project ran from September 1, 2004 until September 1, 2005. It was managed by Professor Morten Pilegaard and supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
