My current research focus on rightwing discourses in Europe (and the US). I draw on theories and approaches from post-structuralism, psychoanalysis and affect theory.
I am also interested with the various new forms of computer-assisted 'distant reading' and in their potential to allow engagement with much wider textual corpora, yet would insist that this cannot be or become a substitute for analytical complexity as offered by the theories of discourse and subjectivity which have come to define the state of the art for what (close) 'reading' entail in the humanities.
