Since 2012, the Ashmolean Museum in the University of Oxford has been conducting an experiment in object-centred teaching. Working with colleagues throughout the University, the Ashmolean has sought not only to expand the disciplinary range of museum-focused, object-led instruction but to explore its potential impact in curricular development, in the training of early-career researchers and in the construction of democratic and inclusive teaching spaces and practices. In this talk, the Ashmolean’s Teaching Curator, Dr Jim Harris will speak from the experience of the past decade, discussing collaboration, interdisciplinarity, the agility of objects and the rich potential of the question, ‘What do you see?’
