I am a dedicated sociolinguistics and postcolonial linguistics scholar, specializing in exploring the linguistic dynamics and attitudes in multilingual border regions, particularly within the context of South America with my main focus being on the interactions between Spanish, Portuguese, and the contact language Portuñol.

My research includes in-depth analyses of language attitudes and language choice at various institutional levels, encompassing family and social environments, educational institutions, and commercial sectors, along with the impact of historical and cultural factors on the linguistic landscape.

Methodologically, my approach involves qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews conducted in 2022 with residents of diverse border areas, such as the cities of Rivera and Santana do Livramento, Ciudad del Este, Puerto Iguazú, Foz do Iguaçu, Bernardo de Irigoyen, Dionísio Cerqueira, Pedro Juan Caballero, and Ponta Porã

Additionally, my research has broadened to investigate the nuances of language variation in fiction, particularly what is called portuñol salvaje, as evidenced in literary works by Fabián Severo and Douglas Diegues. Through phonetic transcriptions, I explore the influence of Portuguese phonology on hybrid word formation.
