My research centres on experts' communication with each other and with non-experts in their field of expertise. In particular, I study legal communication and knowledge, both within the same language and across languages (e.g. translation). But I also look at more science-oriented communication in areas such as biology, medicine and economics. What can contribute to us understanding each other better across disciplines and areas of expertise is a central concern for me.
My teaching focuses mainly on training students to use German in business contexts (international business communication). Together with my colleagues, I teach legal and economic translation, basic economic understanding, change communication and the communication of a company's economic situation.
