I am a postdoc and medical anthropologist at the Department of Research & Development, the Prehospital Emergency Medical Services, Central Denmark Region. I am interested in meetings between human beings and the "system", and I am motivated by making it better for people to interact with systems like the Danish healthcare system.
Through ethnographic fieldwork and critical anthropological analysis, I work with questions such as:
• How do people sense, interpret and respond to embodied sensations and bodily changes, and when do they assess that these are "serious" or "acute"?
• How do people decide to seek help from, for example, a doctor?
• How is uncertainty and patients/diseases who do not fit into established frameworks and boxes managed in the healthcare system?
• Why do some people become "frequent users" of the healthcare system, and how can they be helped?
• What characterizes a "good" care pathway?
