At art institutions, project spaces and in the public space we see the outcome of curators’ work, but as visitors, we rarely get access to the practical and reflective processes that come before the exhibitions. In the spring of 2019, Kunsthal Aarhus introduces the third season of the talk series How We Curate and welcomes a new group of international curators, who will present their work processes. Like the previous seasons, each event consists of two speakers who are invited based on their mutual interests or working conditions.
In 2013, Francesca Astesani and Julia Rodriques co-founded the curatorial agency South into North, where they work with contemporary art projects with a special focus on commissions of art works. They are affiliated with the textile manufacturer Kvadrat as art advisors and curators and are furthermore involved in the development of an art strategy for Nyt Hospital Nordsjælland (New Hospital Nordsjælland). Previously, Astesani and Rodrigues have been in charge of exhibition venues in Copenhagen, respectively Andersen’s Contemporary and IMO, and have held a number of curatorial positions abroad.
Postdoc Trine Friis Sørensen will introduce and moderate the talks, which will be in English.
How We Curate is supported by The Danish Arts Foundation and the Research Programme Contemporary Aesthetics and Technology at Aarhus University.
