My research is in American Studies. My work has two particular focus areas. I have published widely on the work of the author Thomas Pynchon and edited the Cambridge Companion to Thomas Pynchon and Thomas Pynchon in Context, both for Cambridge University Press. I also frequently introduce students and the press to the subject of women in American politics and the role of First Ladies specifically. Recently, my work has explored themes of gender, political discourse and conspiracy theory.
