Associate Professor Kate McDowell is a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Critical Data Practices from October 5 to December 5, 2023. The visit includes research collaborations, public lectures, workshops, and interactions with the wider Aarhus community.
During her stay, Dr. McDowell will collaborate with The Centre for Critical Data Practices (C4CDP) to share her research on Critical Data Storytelling for Libraries, a USA nationally-funded project to equip libraries with narrative tools for data-informed advocacy. Her work shares a focus on critical data studies and the relationship of data to curatorial approaches with The Centre for Critical Data Practices.
Dr. McDowell, known for her contributions to academic journals and her nationally-funded project, the Data Storytelling Toolkit for Librarians, will also serve as an external advisor for Curating Data Toolkit project led by Dr Tyżlik-Carver and funded by SHAPE .
As part of her engagement, Dr. McDowell will share her research through a public university lecture and conduct a workshop for Curating Data/Critical Data Studies students. These sessions offer an opportunity for faculty and students to gain insights into her work and engage in meaningful discussions.
