We are pleased to invite you to join us for the exhibition of the final projects in the course Alternative Data Futures.
Throughout the semester, we have asked and explored how to imagine futures that are not driven by extraction, surveillance, exploitation and false promises of intelligence and unlimited resources. The projects in the exhibition pose questions and propose visions and artefacts guided by values such as regeneration, repairing, healing, reflection, agency, interspecies cohabitation, among others.
The projects draw on speculative and pluriversal design in various formats such as video essays, drawings, objects and installations.
The title of the exhibition takes inspiration from Revolutionary writer and activist Grace Lee Boggs and her legacy of “rebuilding, respiriting and redefining” cities, introduced to us by our esteemed guest lecturer Jonathan W. Y. Gray.
