Researcher Nominated Twice for 100 Women in AI in Denmark

Mariam Khaled nominated twice for the 100 Women in AI in Denmark list, recognizing interdisciplinary contributions to critical and culturally aware AI research.

Researcher and PhD Student of the center Mariam Khaled has been nominated twice for the 100 Women in AI in Denmark list by Connected Women in AI, a recognition highlighting women contributing to the development and critical understanding of artificial intelligence in Denmark.

The nomination acknowledges interdisciplinary work at the intersection of AI, culture, media, and critical technology studies. In reflecting on the recognition, Mariam emphasizes that the nomination represents not only an individual achievement, but also a broader collective movement toward more critical, situated, and culturally aware approaches to AI research and development.

“Working in AI often means moving constantly between disciplines, methods, and competing imaginaries of what ‘intelligence’ even is”, Mariam notes. “Recognition like this points to a growing insistence that AI can be understood not only as a technical system, but also as a cultural and social phenomenon.”

The 100 Women in AI in Denmark initiative celebrates women across academia, industry, and the public sector who are shaping the future of AI in diverse and innovative ways. The nomination also reflects the increasing visibility of critical and humanities-based perspectives within contemporary AI discourse.
