Young Literary Practices

Young Literary Practices

  • Exploring Current Transformations of the Literary System

ABOUT THE PROJECT

It is the YoungLit project’s thesis that young people practice and engage with literature in multiple, innovative and underexplored ways that are not necessarily captured by traditional measurement strategies such as reports regarding the (non-) participation of young people in the existing literary system. Instead of reproducing the conventional focus of research on the fact that literature is in decline, which tends to overlook new contributions to the literary field, the YoungLit project will break new ground by empirically exploring how/why young people in Denmark (aged 15-29) are currently developing novel literary practices and communities, as well as studying whether, how and why established literary actors and institutions adapt their activities to meet these practices and communities.
