Fermenting Data: citizen sense project in Vejle's Spinderihallerne
Fermenting Data, research and curatorial project unfolds in Vejle’s Spinderihallerne and Public Library as part of the curated Art and Technology autumn program.
Fermenting Data, research and curatorial project led by Magdalena Tyżlik-Carver, Associate Professor at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies, unfolds in Vejle’s Spinderihallerne and Public Library as part of the curated Art and Technology autumn program.
Three interactive workshops in September, October, and November 2023 invite the public to explore data and fermentation collaboratively. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, blending data processing tasks with chopping, tasting, and sharing vegetables and ferments.
Fermenting Data addresses the gap in citizen literacy regarding data, a critical resource in today’s digital landscape. The project takes a playful approach to make data more accessible, envisioning its integration into everyday civic life.
Magdalena Tyżlik-Carver, project lead, notes, "Our goal is to make the abstract concept of data tangible and relatable, fostering a deeper appreciation for its role in our digital world."
Fermenting Data is a step towards enhancing data literacy, empowering citizens to understand the significance of data in our interconnected world.
