AI tools in research: An after-hours hands-on exploration

  • Wednesday 26 March 2025 15.15-17.00
  • Building 1580, room 249, Langelandsgade 139, 8000 Aarhus C

AI is increasingly being integrated into research workflows, offering new ways to search for literature, generate hypotheses, and structure reasoning processes. But how do these tools actually work, and what epistemic assumptions and structures are embedded in these tools?

In this workshop, Simon Enni will introduce a selection of recently developed AI research tools and guide a critical discussion on their roles, mechanisms, and underlying infrastructures. Moving beyond promotional narratives, we will examine how these systems function in practice, test some of them hands-on, and reflect on how they shape research processes. Toward the end of the session, we will explore open-source perspectives – exploring how the technological stack behind these tools can be opened up, reconfigured, and recomposed using alternative frameworks.

  • The session is open to all. Please bring a laptop, as we may install and explore tools together.
  • Cold beer/water and snacks will be available.
  • Organizer: AIIM and Maja Bak Herrie
