PhD Course: Rhetorical Criticism & Critical Rhetoric

Aarhus University and The University of Copenhagen are pleased to invite PhD students in rhetoric to a PhD course on Rhetorical Criticism & Critical Rhetoric.

Course description:
During this two-day seminar we will cover key theoretical aspects of both close textual analysis and critical rhetoric as they emerged as divergent doctrines in primarily American scholarship in the 1980s and 90s. On this basis we will expand on the methodological implications for our own PhD projects today as we will read contemporary texts and present our projects in the context of the course literature. In other words, this seminar investigates how the theoretical and methodological discussions from the late last century still hold implications for our work today and how best to utilize them.
