Elisabeth Brun visiting researcher
Elisabeth Brun will be visiting researcher at CRAPCC from August to October. Her work examines how topographies, infrastructures and media shape perception, memory and environmental awareness, investigating the relationships between place, technology and knowledge.
Elisabeth Brun (b. 1977, Northern Norway) is a filmmaker, artist and researcher working across moving image, installation, XR and archival practices. Her work examines how topographies, infrastructures and media shape perception, memory and environmental awareness, investigating the relationships between place, technology and knowledge. Her films and installations have been shown internationally at venues such as Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Seattle Art Museum, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, MedienKunstTage NRW and Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF). She holds a PhD in Media Studies, and is the author of Place and the Moving Image (Routledge, 2025), which explores the eco-critical potential of essayistic and experimental film practices. In 2020, her doctoral experiments received King’s College’s Ivan Juritz Prize for Creative Experiment in Visual Arts. Brun is further trained in site-specific and public art at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, and is currently a visiting scholar and artist at the Centre for Research in Artistic Practice under Contemporary Conditions (CRAPCC), Aarhus University. Brun is based in Oslo.
Elisabeth Brun (f. 1977, Nordnorge) er filmskaber, kunstner og forsker, der arbejder med levende billeder, installation, XR og arkivbaserede praksisser. Hendes arbejde undersøger, hvordan topografier, infrastrukturer og medieteknologier former perception, erindring og miljøbevidsthed, med fokus på relationerne mellem sted, teknologi og viden. Hendes film og installationer er blevet vist internationalt på blandt andet Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Seattle Art Museum, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, MedienKunstTage NRW og Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF). Hun har en ph.d. i medievidenskab og er forfatter til Place and the Moving Image (Routledge, 2025), som undersøger det økokritiske potentiale i essayistiske og eksperimentelle filmpraksisser. I 2020 modtog hendes ph.d.-arbejde King's College Londons Ivan Juritz Prize for Creative Experiment in Visual Arts. Brun er dessuden uddannet i stedspecifik og offentlig kunst ved Kungl. Konsthögskolan i Stockholm og er i øjeblikket gæsteforsker og kunstner ved Centre for Research in Artistic Practice under Contemporary Conditions (CRAPCC), Aarhus Universitet. Brun er bosat i Oslo.
