Representing slavery in Ghana
The seminar deals with strategies and problems related to the contemporary representation of the Transatlantic slave trade in what is today Ghana. The Middle Passage has been seen as emblematic for the trade, but the part of history that became before it, in the hinterlands and coasts of West Africa are often left out of the history. Our three speakers highlights the complexities inherent in narrating this story and presenting it both in a European and West African context.
