Deadline for applications for Summerschool: April 1
The deadline for applying for our Summerschool: Reading Narratives of Slavery, Memory and Human Rights (August 1-10) is approaching.
This course covers various aspects of legacies of (anti-)slavery at different moments in time in Africa, America and Europe. The focus is on multiple ‘uses of the past’ in discourses on and works about slavery, abolition and human rights. Through comparative analysis of narratives of slavery in literature and other forms of ‘popular culture’ (films, art, museum exhibits, music, etc.), you will learn how to critically contextualize and evaluate these products in their historical, spatial and cultural contexts.
