Generative Artificial Intelligence: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities in Education

On October 4th, Professor Morten H. Christiansen will present "Generative Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities for Education". The presentation will be online and in English, followed by a discussion in Danish.

It-vest has recently established seven special interest groups (SIG) to focus on how computational methods can renew subjects in primary, secondary, and higher education, from mathematics to the humanities. Each of the seven groups is led by a team of specialists from widely different disciplines.

In this context, on October 4th, Professor Morten H. Christiansen will present "Generative Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities for Education". The presentation will be online and in English, followed by a discussion in Danish.

Christiansen says that, "The vision of Generative Artificial Intelligence is to revolutionize various aspects of our daily lives, ranging from business to healthcare. But what about the realm of education? I will attempt to unravel this question by discussing some of the findings from a recent study conducted by a committee at Cornell University, focusing on Generative Artificial Intelligence in education and pedagogy."

Morten H. Christiansen is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Psychology at Cornell University, Professor in Cognitive Science of Language at the School of Communication and Culture as well as the Interacting Minds Centre at Aarhus University, Denmark, and a Senior Scientist at the Haskins Labs. He was elected as a member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters and a foreign member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, as well as elected Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and of the Cognitive Science Society. Christiansen is the author of over 250 scientific papers and has edited four books and authored two monographs. His newest book aimed at a general audience — The Language Game: How Improvisation Created Language and Changed the World — outlines a radical new perspective on how language works.
