CLAI director and co-director Mads Rosendahl Thomsen and Rebekah Baglini presented at ECONOVO

CLAI researchers at the Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO) to present on CLAI, generative AI and text generation...

CLAI director and co-director Mads Rosendahl Thomsen and Rebekah Baglini visited the Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO) to talk about CLAI, generative AI and text generation.

ECONOVO is a center of excellence researching new ecosystems that aims to steer towards the most positive outcomes for life on Earth as possible. Here, Baglini and Thomsen discussed developments in Generative AI (GAI) and text generation, which are shaping the future of technology, education and human interaction.

Their presentation aimed at giving both a general outline and introduction to AI, GAI and language models, as well as considerations on the use and future of these technologies.

Outlining the evolution of AI, particularly conversational models like ChatGPT, they highlighted the importance of a healthy and productive discourse and these technologies, and reconceptualizations and shifts in cultural perception, such as going "From Toy to Tool”: technologies like generative AI, initially intriguing users, eventually become essential tools in various areas, from technology to education.

Focusing on CLAI's role, Baglini and Thomsen highlighted the center's efforts in bridging AI and human intelligence, advocating for collaboration among researchers in the field, knowledge sharing and underlining the importance of human involvement in AI development, but also the potential in combining human expertise and AI capabilities.
