SMiD conference “Media (and) sustainability”

Our research program is strongly present at the next annual meeting (2nd of May) of SmiD,  “Samslutning af medie og kommunikationsforskere i Denmark”, the “Association for Media and Communication researchers in Denmark”. The theme is fitting for our program’s perspective: “Media (and) sustainability: Crises, paradoxes, and potentials”. Henrik Bødker is on the organizing committee and Renée Ridgway is presenting on her ongoing work “the search for sustainable search infrastructures”. The talk will present a range of artists and researchers that expose how ‘environmental media’ such as search ecosystems can be imaged and made more tangible, contributing to sustainable communication. Also Jussi Parikka is presenting at the conference, giving a keynote on materiality in media studies with case studies from his AUFF project Design and Aesthetics for Environmental Data that investigates the multiscalar spatial materials of environmental mediation.

Henrik Bødker will be co-editing a special issue of Mediekultur based on the conference and the theme.
