Info about event

Time

Sunday 30 April 2017,  at 14:00 - 16:00

When Istanbul was the European Capital of Culture in 2010, the city celebrated the occasion with a cultural program largely focused on the Istanbul’s historical centre. Shifting the focus from centre to periphery, Istanbul-based artist collective Oda Projesi produced the project Cultural Agencies in 2009-10, a project that sought to develop contemporary models for cultural collaboration and institutional practices. Cultural Agencies engaged with narratives of marginalized Istanbulites, and with the help of architects, city planners, artists, activists, students and local residents, Oda Projesi set out to map modes of agency in the city. For the third part of The Timeshare Project at Kunsthal Aarhus, the members of Oda Projesi and Dilge Eraslan from SALT Research and Programs will visit Aarhus and revisit Cultural Agencies in the context of Aarhus 2017. Over the course of a public presentation and three workshops, Oda Projesi will discuss key aspects of Cultural Agencies and engage with Aarhus-based interlocutors.

Oda Projesi is an Istanbul-based artist collective founded by Özge Açıkkol, Güneş Savaş and Seçil Yersel in 2000. Oda Projesi investigates the relationship between space, everyday life and survival tactics through mediums such as radio stations, books, postcards and newspapers, or by accommodating various meeting points. In recent years, Oda Projesi has also been preoccupied with the relationship between artistic production and precariousness. In Aarhus, Oda Projesi is joined by Dilge Eraslan from SALT Research and Programs, a cultural institution in Istanbul and Ankara.
