14:45 -15:45 ‘SEASON OF THE WITCH’: A TALK ON WITCHES IN CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE BY PROFESSOR DAVID PUNTER.

BRIAN CHIKWAVA is a Zimbabwean writer and musician. His short story ‘Seventh Street Alchemy’ was awarded the 2004 Caine Prize for African writing in English (the leading short story prize in Africa). Later he published a novel, Harare North, to major critical acclaim. He has been a Charles Pick fellow at the University of East Anglia, and now lives in London. He continues to write in England and recently put out an album titled Jacaranda Skits.

DAVID PUNTER, PhD, DLitt, is Professor of English at the University of Bristol, UK. World renowned for his seminal studies of Gothic Literature, Prof Punter has also published major works in the fields of Romanticism, Postcolonialism and Contemporary writing. He is also a poet, with three published collections and an audiobook.
