Prior to the opening of her first exhibition in Denmark, Céline Condorelli will give a lecture at Kunsthal Aarhus in the context of her large-scale curtain installation "Host"

Info about event

Time

Thursday 25 April 2019,  at 16:00 - 18:00

Both an artwork and an exhibition architecture, the installation hosts a film program about migration and climate change organized by Condorelli, as well as a number of Kunsthal Aarhus’ exhibitions and events for almost a year. Using the installation as a starting point, Condorelli’s lecture will connect her interest in support structures as apparatuses of visibility with her efforts to make issues public through intimate encounters. With reference to the film program, she will also speak about how she engages with topics beyond her own field of expertise and establishes frames for discourse.

Céline Condorelli is based in London and Lisbon and has exhibited internationally including at IMA Brisbane, Australia; Gwangju Biennale; Liverpool Biennial; Sydney Biennial; Kunsthalle Lissabon; HangarBicocca, Milan; Chisenhale Gallery, London; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; and SALT, Istanbul; amongst others. She is one of the founding directors of Eastside Projects, Birmingham, and the author and editor of Support Structures (Sternberg Press, 2009) and the monograph bau bau (Mousse, 2017). She holds a PhD in Research Architecture from Goldsmiths, University of London.

The lecture is public, in English and moderated by postdoc Trine Friis Sørensen. The lecture is organised by Kunsthal Aarhus in collaboration with Aarhus Architecture School, The Jutland Art Academy and the Research Programme Contemporary Art and Technology at Aarhus University.

The exhibition, Host, by Céline Condorelli opens at Kunsthal Aarhus on Friday, April 26, 2019, 5-7pm. All are welcome. Between April 27 and June 9, 2019, the film program about migration and climate change will be shown in the context of Host. The curtain installation continues until March 1, 2020.
