About the programme

The overall field of research of the programme Contemporary Aesthetics and Technology (CAT) is contemporary aesthetics with a particular focus on subjectivity, media and computational technologies, artistic practice and their interrelation. Within a critical theoretical framework the programme aims to qualify research in contemporary art, curating and practice-based research.

The research programme works closely together with Kunsthal AarhusARoS Aarhus Art MuseumLiverpool Biennial and other cultural institutions. Thus the programme aims to provide a dynamic research environment for the development of practice-based research at Aarhus University and to strengthen our collaboration with other arts institutions taking part in the field of contemporary art, including the Jutland Art Academy and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
