Pablo Sánchez León is researcher at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao.

Trained as a historian, he has been devoted his career to bridging between the social sciences and critical humanities, and has extensively researched on discourse and power relations in early modern and modern history.

He has written on social movements in 20th century Spain, especially from Franco´s dictatorship to democracy. On memory studies he has published “Overcoming the Violent Past in Spain, 1939-2009”, European Review 20/4 (2012) and “Violence, and the History and Memory of the Spanish Civil War: Beyond the Pattern of Inherited Narrative Frameworks”, in Manu Bragança and Peter Tame (eds.), The Long Aftermath: Cultural Legacies of Europe at War, 1936-2016 (London and New York, Berghahn Books, 2015).
